I am trained in the following types of massage & bodywork:

Swedish Massage: This classic form of massage relaxes the body, improves muscle tone and stimulates circulation and is an essential part of any stress management program. It is characterized by the 'long-gliding' strokes that are often used.

Deep Tissue Massage: This technique is designed to lengthen or broaden the muscle. Also, to separate each muscle from the muscle group, as well as lengthening the fascia tissue. This therapy effects the body on many levels. On a physical level it naturally releases the lactic acid into the system, eventually eliminating sore muscles.

Trigger point Therapy: This pain-relief techniques is used to alleviate muscle spasms and cramping. The therapist locates and deactivates `trigger points', which are often tender areas where muscles have been damaged or acquired a reoccurring spasm or `kink' that worsens painfully when aggravated. The major goals are to reduce spasm inducing new blood flow into the affected area.

Sports Massage: Not just for athletes this type of massage incorporates movement with stretch to effect change in a muscle. Often athletes will recover faster and sustain less injuries when they incorporate this type of massage into their workout routine.

Chair Massage: This form of massage is a short massage that comes to your workplace, lasts from 5-15 minutes, uses no oil, and takes place with the employee fully clothed. Participants leave feeling relaxed, refreshed and ready to return to their regular activities. Special arrangements can be made for this type of massage.

Cranial-Sacral Therapy: CST is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the CranialSacral system - comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.

(I can provide referrals to therapists who provide these types of massage)

Shiatsu Massage: This type of massage use the ancient Japanese pressure-point technique that releases deep muscle tension. Shiatsu also stimulates, balances and unblocks the "meridians" (the pathways in the body through which life energy flows.)

Ortho-Bionomy: A complete system of natural healing based on stimulation of the body's self-correcting reflexes in positions of comfort. The practitioner moves the body away from pain and in the direction of greatest ease of comfort: this position of release is affirmed by applying light compression to the joint involved, informing the central nervous system of the tension patterns, and this initiates the spontaneous reflexive release in 10 to 90 seconds, while the client experiences optimal comfort.
